We chose the Eclipse Rich Client Platform as framework and db4o as powerful database to store all the news. Released under the EPL-1.0 license, RSSOwl is free software. It is written in Java, and is built on the Eclipse Rich Client Platform which uses SWT as a widget toolkit to allow it to fit in with the look and feel of different operating systems while remaining cross-platform. Our main goal is to provide a newsreader that is powerful, easy to extend and easy to use. RSSOwl is a news aggregator for RSS and Atom News feeds. Version 2, however, brings OPML import/export. I teamed up with another developer (Ismael) to work on RSSOwl 2 from scratch.
